Drag That Beats Like a Heart is a documentary photography series named after the Otonabee River in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough, ON.
Otonabee (Odoonabii-ziibi in the Ojibwe language) translates to “the river that beats like a heart” in reference to the bubbling rapids that naturally form.
This series showcases some of the rapids drag artists navigate while performing in and around the Nogojiwanong/Peterborough area and features prominent drag performers in the area including Banshii Waylon, Betty Baker, Madeleine Minogue, Magnolia Knox and Sahira Q.
